Start using Sailmate

Sailmate is very user friently and easy to use, so you will probably not even need to read the manual, even if an English manual is available.

First download Sailmate from the Apple Store. Sailmate is free of charge.

After having activated Sailmate by entering the activation code received by email, Sailmate will display the list of your planned trips (empty at the beginning, except a dummy trip).

From this list, you could start a trip right now, in this case the nautical map will be displayed and show your boat position. You could click on any harbour or point on the map to define the parameters and route of your next trip.

Instead of creating the route from the map, you could also plan a trip from the list. In this case, select a dummy trip and indicate at least your departure and destination harbours. As soon this is done, Sailmate will compute your navigatioon log and will give access to weather on the route, and of course to the nautical chart of your journey.

When the nautical chart is displayed, you could click on any point (harbour, buoy, beacon, light) to display its characteristics. For harbours, you will get their location and characteristics, weather (at nearest weather station). Soon, harbour charts will be available in numerous countries.

A long press on any point of the map will allow to create and manage user waypoints.

By clicking on the boat at the upper right of the chart, you could toggle between Planning mode and Boating mode. In boating mode, Sailmate will display boat position, flight data (speed, track and so on) and will record sailed path. You could then later on review your path and recorded data and share them with friends.

Sailmate is a community-driven app, please inform us of any suggestion to improve it.

We wish you safe and happy boating!
